About me
Writing and story-telling are traditions even older than my watermill. I am enthusiastic about keeping all of them alive and well to the best of my ability.
For me, writing is one of life’s pleasures
I was born and raised in Monmouthshire in the United Kingdom before I took a degree at Oxford University. I have subsequently worked all over the world as a management consultancy partner with a blue-chip international professional services firm. Writing has always been an important and enjoyable part of my life, and along the way I’ve written and published a variety of mainly non-fiction work. I am also an avid reader of fiction, and real life has often landed me in situations that with a little imagination I felt would make a great novel. Now that I have returned to the Welsh border country I couldn’t resist the temptation to have a go at proving it The tranquility of south-west Herefordshire is perfect for letting the imagination roam free .
From here I publish a local history website and write short stories and magazine articles as well as crafting my thrillers. If inspiration stutters, a stroll through the garden gate takes me into stunning scenery in the shadow of the Black Mountains where I can chase down loose ends in my plots, work through problems my characters throw in my path, or simply recharge my batteries ready for the next chapter. I’m having a lot of fun expanding my writing into thriller fiction, and I am especially delighted that my first two novels – ‘SPIN’ and ‘Conflicts of Interest’ – both won gold medal awards from publisher HarperCollins. For me, though, the acid test is whether you, the reader, enjoy my work. I hope you will.
