I’m Bob Steele, writer and publisher
Welcome to my website. Here you can find out more about me, my novels and my non-fiction writing. My thrillers are set in recent times against a real-world background that you may find broadly familiar. Of course, the hazards and challenges my characters face are fictional – although they might well have happened in real life, given a little imagination. My non-fiction articles and stories are mainly about aspects of the rich history of the Welsh Marches that catch my interest.
Bob Steele
The tranquility of our home – an ancient watermill in the heart of the Marches of Wales – is perfect for letting the imagination roam free and for concentration on the hard work of research and writing.
What I do
My Thriller Novels
Do you ever speculate about what might really lie behind strange things that happen in the world? Do you ask yourself why some people are winners and others losers? I do, all the time. The possibilities I come up with inspire my novels.
Articles and Stories
The area where I live has been disputed and fought over for more than a thousand years. Researching the history of my watermill soon led me into writing and publishing non-fiction articles and stories about other local events, places and people.
Publishing
My novels are published on Amazon through my own publishing company, Watermill Enterprises. I publish most of my non-fiction work on a website set up for the purpose in collaboration with a group of like-minded local historians.
My Next Thriller
To be released soon:
The hunt for cheap and plentiful organs for transplantation has led to illicit experimentation in a secret laboratory hidden in the remote African bush. There Protec SA has torn up the rule book in an attempt to crack the problems of using animal organs in human recipients. Success seems close and the potential profits run to billions of dollars. But major new investment is needed to bring the breakthrough to market and global pharmaceutical giant XenoPharm is in the hunt to acquire Protec. They hire management consultant David Tyler to carry out the usual Due Diligence review before the deal is done. Accounting loose ends lead him to a Protec outpost in Tanzania, where he discovers that the laboratory is in the grip of a deadly zoonotic virus that the experiments have unleashed. Unsure whether he has been infected, he realises that he is now humanity’s last defence against a lethal global pandemic…
